Jan. 2nd, 2008 01:56 pmI'm so tired I could seriously cry, but I only have an hour to get a whole lot of things done before the kids are done with school for the day. Yes, they went. Danny made it just before his class went to lunch, and Sadie was 10 minutes late for her afternoon session, but they made it.
My visit in PA was enjoyable but it was far from restful. I waited tables one morning when a waitress called in sick, I tended bar a couple nights, and most of the time that the restaurant was open I was in the kitchen helping out with whatever. Next visit I'm going to commandeer a couple of the smaller rooms for the kids so we can all get some sleep. And Danny has already very sweetly asked if we can't come home a day earlier next Christmas so we have a day to recover before jumping back into the school routine. Such a smart boy. As it happens, the calendar will be our friend next year as Christmas falls on a Thursday. That means we can take Friday to pack and leave on Saturday, and then come back the following Saturday. And if it's a problem for Jon to have two Saturdays off, we'll leave Sunday. And if the kids are scheduled to go back to school on Friday (January 2nd) the school can bite me.
Okay. Bank and grocery store. Jon invited an old friend over to visit this evening so I have to clean up a bit and make sure we have something to feed him. Nothing like coming home to an empty refrigerator (although I must say it's a big improvement over coming home to a refrigerator full of food that's not fit to eat).
