Home sick again
Mar. 26th, 2008 11:22 amNot me. Just both the kids. Although to be honest I've felt better.
Sadie was flushed and feverish at bedtime last night and fell asleep about five minutes after her head hit her pillow. Yes, my kids need to be Really Sick to keep from bouncing off the walls at bedtime. This morning, Danny looked a little off but he didn't really have any specific complaints and wasn't feverish so I put him on the school bus. Half an hour later the nurse was on the phone reporting that he'd thrown up twice and would I please come and get him.
Head.Hit.Desk.
He has been playing computer games since he came home except for a short break to throw up again. (And instead of using the bathroom that was literally three feet behind him, he ran for the one upstairs -- so nobody would have to smell it, he said. Whose kid is this?)
So I'm boiling last night's leftover roasted chicken for some homemade soup they probably won't eat, and the kids are being nice to each other. It's amazing.
In other news, I bought the new version of Quicken for my laptop (mostly because I couldn't find the CD-ROM for the old version that's on the desktop but also because Quicken is doing an upgrade promotion for users of Quicken Basic (which is no longer made). This thing is AMAZING. I can't stop playing with it. Everything I need to know about cash flow and debt is right in front of me in a format that's easy to see and understand. For the first time in a long time I feel like I have some level of control over what's going on with the bills, and it feels great. Also it is going to make tax time a breeze next year.
And now, back to work...
