I started off cheerful. Honest.
Jun. 5th, 2008 02:09 pmThe party went great. The weather was perfect, there was plenty of good food, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
We have an overhead light in the bathroom for the first time in more than 10 years.
I'm holding my breath for the economic stimulus check. Between the car repairs and the bathroom renovation we've already spent it several times over.
If I weren't forced to wait for money that's owed to me for teaching and transcribing it wouldn't be so bad, but I literally can't pay the mortgage until we get some more money in the account.
The cost of Jon's commute has doubled with no increase to his salary -- in fact, the rates for our health insurance went up so he's actually taking home less than he was before.
Saturday Sadie is having half her class over for a birthday party and we somehow couldn't manage to keep the house looking neat for even a few days.
Today is cold and overcast, and I'm feeling rather fragile.
There was a dead kitten in the gutter when I walked Sadie to school today. Thank God she didn't notice, because it was completely disemboweled and its face was crushed. It was an odd set of injuries to get from a passing car. I called animal control, and I deeply hope they've at least disposed of the poor thing.
