May. 27th, 2010 11:15 pmWhile chatting on facebook with a high school classmate this morning I realized a few things.
Today was I think the second time I ever had a conversation with this guy. The first was during our senior class trip, and I'm pretty sure he was drunk at the time (the fact that he was talking to me at all was a big tip-off).
The Internet is a very strange place.
- People seem to remember me more as a talented artist and less as a dorky outcast.
- Some of the people I went to high school with might actually have been kind, decent people even if I didn't recognize that at the time.
- I am really glad that I didn't peak in high school, because there is a lot of life after 18.
- I've been out of high school longer than some of my friends have been alive. And, corollary to that:
- I am actually old. Having young children and hanging out with younger people does not change the fact that many of my chronological peers have adult children and grandchildren, and some have even had to bury their parents.
