(no subject)
Jan. 26th, 2008 01:25 pmIt actually took two weeks for the production staff to acknowledge that they couldn't actually cast Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I'm not surprised; at a minimum you need 14 men unless you put a lot of girls in drag to play the brothers. Not a lot of community theater groups could pull something like that off; I suspect the show was chosen more for its Biblical subject matter (it's a church group) than for any practical considerations.
Oh well; it was fun to audition. They're going to try to present a musical review, but it's rehearsing on Sunday afternoons (which will henceforth be taken up by ballet rehearsals for the upcoming spring performance) and it's still a 60 mile round trip. For a chance to do Joseph with my kids I was willing to suck it up, but now, not so much.
I really was looking forward to a chance to be in a musical again. I enjoy doing the ballets but, oh, to sing! It's been years.
Today is sunny but frigid; I was thinking of sledding with the kids again but I just don't want to get that cold. Maybe I'll take them bowling; that could be fun.
