"Vacation week is almost over." Danny's voice was muffled by the comforter he'd cocooned himself in, but not so much that I couldn't hear how thick and choked it was. "I know," I said as kindly as I could, rubbing his back through the blankets. "I'm sorry it hasn't been much fun for you. But there's still Friday and the weekend, and you should be feeling much better by tomorrow."

Then we got him his morning dose of antibiotics and ear drops. Two hours later, he's bouncing around almost like normal, although he still sounds a little congested. Maybe we'll try a trip to the mall or something.
