I tried, I really tried to give Disney's Pocahontas a chance. The complete lack of any historical accuracy is making it difficult for me to find any redeeming values.

At least the music is good.

I know that as a teenager, when it first came out, I thought it was the most incredibly romantic film. These days it doesn't quite hit me the same way, but I still love the look of the film, the music and Pocahontas herself is a great character.

Even as a teenager though, the historical inaccuracy bothered me (although, to be fair, Jamestown isn't too bad). I've always kind of wished that they'd changed all the names and just said it was inspired by Pocahontas.

By the way, do not, under any circumstances, watch the sequel.

My stepsisters were obsessed with that movie for a good year or so. Every time they'd come over, we'd watch it at least once, usually twice or thrice.

I always got a kick out of the stalker leaves that follow her everywhere...
