Jun. 10th, 2008 06:54 pmOn the evening of the third day of 95+ and humid, I broke down and dragged the air conditioning unit out of the basement. I know it's silly because the heat is supposed to break in about 12 hours and we suffered this long, but I couldn't take one more minute. I don't like it when the outside temperature exceeds my internal body temperature, especially when the atmosphere is choked with tree pollen and so wet and thick it feels like I'm swimming in it.
So far the only place that's remotely comfortable is a 3-foot radius in front of the air conditioner, but the ceiling fans are going full tilt and it's beginning to cool off outside so I'm hopeful there will be sleep to be had tonight.
Tomorrow is Sadie's last day of school. Danny has one more week. I can't believe how quickly the year has flown by.
Ooh, I think I hear the thunder rolling in at last...

Date: 2008-06-10 11:03 pm (UTC)My kids had their last day today.
We had a thunder storm last night and this morning. Our quick set pool that we put up last night got over flowed!

Date: 2008-06-10 11:59 pm (UTC)We're supposed to get a thunder storm or two tonight, and we listen hopefully for rumbles. Tomorrow it will only get to the high 80's. Yay.
Now I need to convince Hubby to put up the awning to keep the sun off of the back of the house before the next round.
I think I'll buy a summer house in Maine or Alaska or Australia...
