There is nothing like DOING SOMETHING to shatter the dull, scraping blade of futility. Know what I did today?

I bought a fridge. Know why?

Because crying about the old broken one wasn't helping.

Hey, did you know -- because I sure didn't -- that when a compressor dies on a refrigerator it can cost upwards of $2000 to repair?

Yeah, I could have bought three fridges today for that. Or one REALLY nice one that wouldn't fit in the kitchen.

Know what else? I got to buy it from the appliance store downtown -- which I walked to this afternoon with the kids. So I get to feel good about supporting local business AND I qualified for 12 months with no payments and no interest. So I have a year to come up with $600.

Which is good because everything in the old fridge is now garbage. Which isn't as bad as it could be, because we were due to go shopping.

I can do this.

I can do anything, dammit.

Of course you can do anything! You have a brain and thumbs. It doesn't get any better than brain and thumbs. :)

AND you are a woman and a mom. You've got it all on your side. :D

Why didn't you buy a fridge big enough to live in during the summer? I wish I had.

Doh. I'm glad you were able to get a replacement so quickly! And at least there are some things in the freezer downstairs. I mean... those would have been lost too, a couple years ago. *hugs* You need to post a photo of the new fridge. :)

I remember when Asiah was really little, less than a year old I think.. Her dad and I just stocked our freezer with a bunch of meat and then went away for the weekend to visit his grandparents. We got home, fired up the grill, and went to the freezer to get some steaks (we were really hungry, was just gonna go strait to the grill) opened up the freezer, and got a nice whiff of spoiled meat. Our Fridge died! Lovely isn't it? So we had to toss everything, buy a "new" used one from an appliance/repair store and only paid 600 for it too. (We had money then..lol)

Yes, if you can buy a fridge on your own.. you are queen of the Mountain!

Whoo hoo!

Oh, wow. What a nightmare. At least I didn't spend a couple hundred stocking up, and we only lost about $20 worth of perishables. It's more the principle of the thing.
