What day is it?
Jan. 4th, 2014 04:44 pm... it's hard to remember. The kids have been off school for what seems like forever, thanks to the show days Thursday and Friday. The only plus side of hubby not having a job was that there was no real urgency to dig out.
That was also a minus.
I finally got out last night to drop Sadie off at a friend's for a sleepover. Today I went to the bank, to the laundromat to dry a double load of towels, and to the grocery store -- although since the bank branch was IN the grocery store, that's really only two places. I also picked Sadie up at her friend's house... and now I'm home.
I think I mentioned I've given up on the dryer. I picked up a portable clothes rack for something like ten bucks at Wal-Mart and set it up in front of the radiator. With a few clothespins and a few dozen hangers we can get the most needed things done without leaving the house. And it won't be too long before we can go back to using the line outside.
My mom remarked during our visit that I seem a lot less unhappy. I suppose it's not surprising she would notice, since you tend to really notice changes in people when you see them infrequently, but it's interesting that she made the comment. I do feel happier, generally speaking, which is great because I feel like I've been slogging through miserable for a lot of years. It's a little ironic, considering the shitstorm around me is as bad as it's ever been, but there it is.
We'll get through this. The days are already getting longer.
