The mud ended up having to dry overnight, so I got up at 6:00 to start laying the floor since the only time the plumber could come was 8:00 today. Well, or next week, but since I really wanted to have a working toilet by Sunday I took what I could get.

As expected the biggest timesucker in the floor was arranging and rearranging the tiles to figure out the best way to put them in. I got in just enough for the toilet to be installed, and the plumber is here now putting it in.

I feel like a cat waiting for the litter box to be scooped, man.

I have lots more pictures but this is the one I snapped with my camera phone to email to my dad. He talked me through the problem of the wall that's on the left side of the photo, which is basically rough framing around some freestanding pipes (the visible ones are part of the heating system). The frame stopped six inches short of the ceiling, and I discovered when I started to put up the new drywall that the face of it is uneven -- the center support sticks out nearly a quarter inch beyond the end supports.

Hooray for shims and, soon, drywall tape!

Anyway, here's the new toilet, neatly installed over the bare minimum of tiles necessary. I'll sort out the rest after I finish today's transcript.

Yeehaw!
